Blessing for today!

lake_house.jpg

Oh my Allah!

If you didn’t want to create me, I couldn’t have a name and I was absent.

You gave me a chance to be!

If you didnt let me to have food and water, I was hungry and thirsty…

If you wished that trouble to me, I couldn’t sleep in safety…

Oh my Allah!

You gave me a life! You made me as a human!

You gave me eyes to see your beauties…

You gave me ears to hear the sound of hapiness…

You gave me mind to think and you gave me a secret soul to feel and you gave me heart to love…

It was not difficult for you, you would create me as any creatures in the world but you wished me as a human…

I’ m servant of you my Allah! Help me about my belief that it is stronger and give me peace in  my inner  world.

Give me a place to pray you in my world to protect myself from the carelessness and dark powers in my body…

Give me knowledge mind to distinguish between good things and bad things devil whispers.

Give me good words to tell and share you with my brothers and sisters.

Protect me from the laziness and ignorence and Hell which is a prison from fire…

Amin.

Turkish traditional songs from Malatya

100_4150.jpg

Traditional wedding celebrations, although increasingly rare, last three days. They begin with the henna evening usually on Friday, called “kina gecesi” , which is an event for women only. The women decorate the hands and fingers of the bride with henna-leaf dye, and dance and sing together. On the second day, both sets of parents serve lunch and dinner to their guests. On the third day, the bride is taken to the groom’s home on a horse after folk dances are performed.

Drop of contemplation: Hummingbirds

calderwood.jpg

 Hummingbeards…

They are miracle, stop and think….

How long do hummingbirds live?

There’s not a lot of data to work with, but most experts think the average lifespan of a hummer is 3 or 4 years. The record was a female Broad-tailed, banded as an adult in Colorado in 1976, then recaptured in the same location in 1987, which would have made her at least 12 years old.

How fast do hummingbird wings beat? How do they move?

It depends on the size of the bird. The largest, the Giant Hummingbird, has a wingbeat rate of 10-15 per second. The fastest recorded rate was about 80 per second, on a tiny Amethyst Woodstar, and the slightly smaller Bee Hummingbird – the world’s smallest bird – may have an even faster rate. Common small North American hummers like the Ruby-throated and Rufous average around 53 per second in normal flight.

Watch this short slow-motion QuickTime movie of a male Ruby-throated hovering. Look for the figure-8 motion of his wings, which provides lift in both directions.

How fast do hummingbird hearts beat?

A rate of 1260 beats per minute was measured in a Blue-throated Hummingbird. In torpid hummingbirds, the heart rate can drop to 50-180 per minute.

Do hummingbirds migrate by riding “piggyback” on other birds?

This persistent bit of folklore – usually citing geese as the carrier – must date from an earlier period, before much at all was known about hummingbird migration. In fact, a helpful reader wrote:

I believe it was John J. Audubon who, if not started, helped to strengthen this myth.

As you may or may not know, he shot and ate many of the birds he painted. He reports shooting a goose and upon retrieval, turning it over and out flew a hummingbird. I’m afraid I don’t have the book in hand nor the source, but I do recall reading this either from his journals or another creditable source citing Audubon. Therefore, this “myth” may have been started by the namesake of the major bird society in this country.

There is not a shred of evidence to support this whimsical concept, however colorful the idea may be. [humor alert!] Perhaps, as one wag postulated, a hummingbird was once seen carrying a goose back to the nest in her talons, to feed her hungry chicks.

Hummers are fully capable of traveling astounding distances on their own wings; it is generally accepted by scientists that most Ruby-throats fly non-stop across the Gulf of Mexico in the spring, and probably in both directions.

Some other amusing misconceptions with no basis in fact:

  • Hummingbirds are a cross between a bird and an insect (from an early Spanish report to Queen Isabella)
  • Hummingbirds don’t have feet (all birds have feet; hummers don’t use theirs to walk, though)
  • Hummingbirds never land (I once had two perched on my finger at the same time) http://www.hummingbirds.net/about.html#heartbeat

The Ottomans

iiiseliminbayramtoreni4eu.jpg

THE BIG EMPIRE: OTTOMANS(1299-1923)

“The Ottoman state rose to become a world empire, which lasted from the late 13th century to 1923. Like that of the Habsburgs, its eventual rival, the Ottoman Empire was dynastic; its territories and character owed little to national, ethnic or religious boundaries, and were determined by the military and administrative power of the dynasty at any particular time. The Ottomans attempted to bring as much territory as possible into the Islamic fold. The non-Muslims living in these areas were then absorbed into the Empire as protected subjects.”

Ah Istanbul..

I sailed my tears to the castle of Rumeli that I sat down on a stone in the middle of Kanlica,

There is nothing to do, he wanted to go and had gone…

I understand him but also it is so painfull it finished in one side.

I need a wind named Lodos and an oar and a boat,

and some bottle of wine coz the sky and earth are red.

I swear my life passing, not important for me if it is a fault and a shame.

The morning star falls on me coz it is drunk still from the night.

Ah, Istanbul didnt see a grief like this when it is begun to build,

I m dying coz of your love, I havent got a little bit honour now.

It is painfull and faulty, human is defeated by himself(herself)

A medicine of treachery hasnt found yet, and the heart is a black hole.

There is nothing to do, it is a heart and it loved.

And always I know him, as a new body and a new excitement.
